Your Questions, Answered

Working With a Public Adjuster

The essentials on what we do, what it costs, and how the claims process works in Florida and Georgia.

What does a public adjuster do?

A public adjuster is a licensed insurance professional who works for you, the policyholder, not the insurance company. We inspect and document your property damage, interpret your policy, prepare and file the claim, and negotiate directly with your insurer so you can focus on getting life back to normal. Allegiant is a disabled veteran-owned firm licensed in both Florida and Georgia.

How much does Allegiant cost? Is it really “no recovery, no fee”?

Yes. We work on a contingency basis, so if you don’t get paid, we don’t get paid. Our fee is a percentage of the settlement we recover for you. Florida law caps public adjuster fees at 20% of the claim payment, and at 10% for claims tied to a Governor-declared state of emergency during the year after the declaration. We review the exact terms with you before you sign anything.

Do I really need a public adjuster?

You are never required to hire one, but the insurance company’s adjuster works for the insurer, not for you. A public adjuster levels the playing field by making sure your damage is fully documented, your policy is interpreted in your favor, and your claim is valued accurately. This is especially valuable for large, complex, denied, or underpaid claims.

How long does the claims process take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the loss, but Florida law sets clear deadlines: your insurer must acknowledge your claim within 7 days and generally pay or deny it within 60 days of receiving notice. We keep your claim moving, track every deadline, and push back on unnecessary delays.

Can you help if my claim was already denied or underpaid?

Absolutely. A denial or a lowball offer is not the end of the road. We review your policy and the insurer’s decision, re-document the damage, and reopen or dispute the claim to pursue the full amount you are owed. Many of our clients come to us after their insurer has already said no.
